Catherine Holbrook Music Projects
About Catherine Shackell's Work
Catherine creates music projects with a diverse range of education and community groups in a wide variety of settings. She also trains artists and teachers in working creatively with music and relishes the opportunity to collaborate with other artists and educators.

Unique projects
Projects can focus solely on developing musical skills and understanding, or can be designed to celebrate a particular theme, festival or event and support learning in other subject areas.

The project pages will give you an idea of the kind of things that are possibile. Every project is specially tailored to meet the requirements of each individual group, so the focus, design, length and outcomes of each project are unique.

Flexible projects
Projects can range from short half-day sessions to residencies lasting several days, weeks or even months.

One-off sessions can provide:
  • the opportunity to try out new skills
  • a creative way to engage with a new environment or reflect on a well-known place
  • a stimulating introduction to a new topic in school, or an exciting way to reinforce a familiar subject
Longer projects & residencies offer:
  • the possibility to involve more people
  • the option of working towards a final event or celebration
  • the potential to combine aspects of other subject areas and art forms
  • the chance to develop skills and grow confident in using them
  • the opportunity to make new friends and find new ways of working together

Projects for everyone
Catherine works with people of all ages, abilities & backgrounds in a range of contexts:
  • in formal education settings with early years through to postgraduate students
  • with hard-to-reach groups including the elderly, ethnic minorities, adult and young offenders, and people with special needs
